Frequently Asked Questions

Semi Private Lessons

How do Semi Private lessons work?

Semi-private lessons are meant for people who have their own small group of friends or family and wish to learn together but not as part of our regular weekly group lessons. These small groups, may choose their own lesson times with the instructor.

Do I need a partner

    Do I need a partner?

No, you don’t need a partner to attend our classes.  However, if you are attending by yourself, please inform us so that we know how many singles will be in a class and we can try our best to gender balance the classes.

Never taken classes before

What if I've never taken a dance class before?

Any class termed “beginner” or “Level 1″is designed for students with NO dance background in that specific style of dance.  We recommend you start from Level 1 and progress to higher level classes as you get more comfortable.

Which class is suitable

How do I decide which class is suitable for me to join?

You have the option of trying out any group class for $10/pp and deciding which class to join.  If you would like to join a class in a level higher than the beginner level, you must demonstrate competency in the basic level material before moving to a higher level.  Instructors reserve the right to discourage students from enrolling in a program that is unsuitable for their skill level.

Register in advance

Do I need to sign up for classes ahead of time?

We  have limited space in all our group classes.   We aim for quality not quantity.  We would prefer you to register for a class in advance so that we can limit the number of students in each class in order to provide the students with the best instruction possible.

What if I Register and make the full payment in advance and don’t end up liking the class?

We’ve always had a full refund policy ( minus $10/pp for the first class attended.) only until the end of the first class.    This gives you the option to try the class and if you change your mind to get a refund back.  No questions asked.

Dress Code

What is the dress code for classes?

Generally, people like to dress up for class but this is entirely up to you.  We only have a dress code for parties.

Please note: Do not wear strong perfumes or colognes as some people have environmental sensitivities. Please remember your personal hygiene, as you will be dancing in close proximity to your partner.

Shoes

    What shoes should I wear?

Please bring a separate pair of dress shoes to wear during the lesson.  Any smooth soled shoe for men and women will do.  (No flip-flop sandals, or thick rubber soled shoes as its difficult to dance in these).  Any shoe that holds your foot nice and tight will do.

Refund/Credit

Can I get  a Refund/Credit for classes missed?

No refunds will be issued after the first week of a new session.

Students should make an effort to attend every class in the session. However, if you must miss a class we will allow you to make it up by attending any other class that is within the level of your expertise or lower. ALL MISSED CLASSES MUST BE MADE UP WITHIN THE CURRENT SESSION. No credit will be given for future sessions.

Note that private class packages and gift certificates have expiry dates. Please make sure to use those up before they expire as there will be no refunds after expiry date. There are no refunds on gift certificates, regardless of expiry date.

Make up classes

Can I make up a class if I miss a lesson in the course?

There are no make up classes.   However, you have the option of dropping in to any of our other group classes in the same session if you miss a class. There are no refunds or credit given for missed classes.
